I have a 50. cal getz swamped barrel w/ round bottom rifling. It's purty accurate,as good as my old eyes allow it to be. Will rifling affect how it shoots or just help in build up of fowling ? Wild Eagle

My .54 is a round bottom rifled Getz. 1 in 55 twist. I can shoot all day, call it 30 to 50 shots and never have to swab or clean it (depending on humidity). I only use spit lubrication, because it is handy. I think round bottom rifling and a coned muzzle are the hot setup for loading out of the bag, off hand shooting.

Well, Wildeagle, greetings from the Great Frozen North. I used to work in Waynesboro. If you're ever in that area, look up Greg Kiersz and say Hi- he's a very ineteresting fellow.

I too have a radius groove rifled barrel (Colerain .40 A weight). I confess that (largely due to my own inaction) the rifle is still a work in progress, but i think that since you went and got me all MOTIVATED i'll wander into the basement and work on it some more.

I've coned all my ML barrels- wish i'd done it long ago. There are those who claim it adversely effects accuracy, but my experience seems to show no appreciable difference. Perhaps i'm just not a good enough shot to notice the difference.

Anyway, good luck with your project.
