Hello from Germany!

Meanwhile I have harvested 6 roes with my .50 Traditions Deerhunter. For all I used PRB's. The first 2 were killed with 90 grs WANO PP behind the .490 PRB and the 0,20mm lubed patch. But I got the impression that this laod was to stout, so I reduced it to 75 grs WANO PP. This charge worked well.
My expirience after my first season of ML hunting is that a PRB is a really high effective bullet. You only have to keep the distance and place the ball right. But when placing it in the boilerroom, the neck or the chest it is a deadly lead pumpkin. In my opinion more effective as this new bullets. Our forefathers knew what they used.

Many thanks to all forummembers for the support on my way to a ML hunter.

Regards

Kirrmeister

considering the diameter of the .50 (makes bigger hole than many hi-velocity rounds) no surprise that you dropped your charge down. I use an '06 caseful of 3F as a hunting load. about 72 grs.
by the way what sort of venison dish is your favorite?

Venison dish? You mean what kind of knife or what plates for serving?

He means how do you like to eat it? Recipes, etc. Me personally I like it fried up with some unions or grilled but my favorite is what my wife makes up in the crock pot. Man I pick on that all day.

In other words, how do you prefer to cook or prepare the venison? In anderen Woerten, wie ziehen Sie vor das Fleish zu vorbereiten?

Very good job, Dirk. :hatsoff: You must be stacking those deer up like cord wood.

Like you, I'm learning but the most amazing thing, so far, is how deadly the round ball is. I imagine those modern rifle shooters over there who thought you were crazy to hunt with muzzleloader and PRB have had their eyes opened. :shocked2:

I like my venison with sauerkraut. You do have sauerkraut over there don't you?

Hi Bob,

here in Germany we don't eat the Sauerkraut with venison, but we eat redcrout or red cabbage and dumplings with the venison.Tastes mighty good. Sauerkraut is touher than red cabbage, because red cabbage is a bit sweet. So we eat Sauerkraut with sausages or fried pork.

Where do you hunt and which gun do you use?

As I was reading this, I was interested to hear what KM said were his favorite recipes.

Two of my favorites are Rahmschnitzel and JaegerScnitzel, both with red cabbage and spatzle.
