I would appreciate any information on the external ballistics of the Ruger Old Army revolver. I looked at some sites such as Hodgdon, which had H777 and roundball data, but nothing for a conical load.

I'd like to know what the gun would do with various projectiles such as conicals, Buffalo Ball-etes and the like.

Thank you.

I've got a detailed article I downloaded from the Internet a few months ago...probably to long to post here...I'll PM it to you...maybe it'll help

roundball, could you sent to me also? I have been shooting conicals out of mine for a while. I like them better then the round ones.
No offence

Sent it in a PM...it'll come as a contineous block of text but as you read it you'll see the logical "break points" to separate paragraphs back out

The Lyman Blackpowder Handbook devotes two pages of data to the Ruger revolver. They list loads with .457" ball and with the Buffalo Bullets 190 gr. conical and using 3fg and Pyro P.
Anyone who doesn't have this book is missing a lot of good info. :imo:

You're right!
Had it, lent it,,,, (gone forever-dammit!).
Oh well, such are kids. (hope :results:)
