Well, I finally got around to ordering a new set of Treso nipples to replace the genuine but trashy Ruger items that seem to have been adding to my cap woes recently.

Living here in the yUK, on the boundaries of the known world, has its own set of problems, one of which is the truly ASTOUNDING cost of mailing me an envelope containing six tiny pieces of bronze.

Can you believe $24.50?

Frankly [with apologies to anybody out there named Frank] I was appalled, and then p!ssed, and told the dealer [great dealer, BTW, but no names] of my misgivings.

He agreed to stick 'em in the mail to Oregon - with, I sincerely hope, a substantial saving over the original quote.

That quote, BTW, was 3/4 the cost of the items concerned.

Think I'll quit complaining about freight costs to Alaska! :rotf: I still use the original nipples that came with the gun without trouble. MD

Up until last year, I was still using the originals from 1986, and shooting at least twice a month. Our noob/guest-day sessions can involve shooting about a hundred rounds on the day, and I've taken my ROA to around forty of them, so I'm not complaining about the ones that came with it - they owed me nothing.

Still, I'm looking forward to trying out the Treso nipples - maybe my almost 5000 #11 CCI caps will be a better fit on them.

I changed my original nipples that were from '82 recently because the old Rem #11's I was given would slip off of a few of them. I also bought CCI #11 magnums, which would all too often require a second strike to fire.

I bought nipples from ToTW that were designed similarly to the Treso nipples, but with the Ruger hex head. I have the same issues with them.

I've recently bought some Rem #10's that I'll be trying out in about a week.

Most of these dealers have a minimum postage and handling fee that can exceed the cost of the item that you are buying. Often their minimum postage and handling will be $5.95 or more while the actual costs for mailing the item to you may run no more than, perhaps, $1.50 ($1 postage and $.50 for a small bubble envelop) leaving a sweet $4.45 extra to stick in their pocket. The actual numbers may vary but you get my idea on the situation. In a word, it sucks.
