Rust blue vs Jax

The top is Jax Black for copper. The gun has been shot a lot.

The bottom is my first effort at Rust bluing. It will be my preferred method if I do anymore. I wish I had known how to do this 40 years ago.

There's a lot of things I wish I'd known how to do 40 years ago! Those are two nice looking rifles. Did you build them?

Yessir. The top is a Colonial and the bottom a Woodsrunner.

Wow, that looks really good. I've been thinking of redoing my SMR because the Jan black is fading away after a couple years of heavy use. Your results are inspiring me more to rust blue it.

What product did you use?

I used the Laurel Mountain stuff. All it required was patience and hot weather.

Thanks. I read the instructions and it seems doable. There is no shortage of hot humid weather this year.
