Some time ago I bought from a place called "The Japan Woodworker" a rust preventing oil. It's called Camellia oil. Works great on tools. My question, has anyone any experience useing it on muzzleloaders. It is a vegetable oil (Tea seed oil). Has a high temperature rating. Wondering how it would react with black powder?

acragaurd, not sure of the spelling but it's what I use and have never ever had rust.

I use a product from a company called AMSOIL its called Metal Protector I have used it for years with no rust problems

LPS 3 for me. Have not heard of the Jap tea oil and see no reason to buy something else that is imported.

Though I haven't used it directly with BP, a small bottle of this oil came with a boxed set of German carving tools I got thirty years ago. It serves it's purpose well, because it dries, leaving an opaque and durable film on the tool. My guess is that it might be very effective if used on the bore of a weapon going into storage, but that it might require some thorough cleaning before use in the field.

I use it regularly on my knives, tools, and firearms. Doesn't get much press for whatever reasons. Also, is used to maintain and preserve wood as well as metal.
