The throat is 1/32" steel from an old sign. I don't know what gauge that would be. The hook has a 3/32" pin in the base going through the throat and is silver brazed. The throat is glued and pinned to the sheath. Yep, I like 01, but only use the types with vanadium added. Super fine grain, and it holds an edge superior to most all other carbon steels. It is the blade steel others are judged by. My only problem with it is the air hardening qualities it has, but I can usually work around that. You do good work. I like seeing clean work. Not so much in perfection, but clean with tasteful lines. Stuart Willis does that with his tomahawks, and I have always admired his work. I couldn't afford one of his myself, but I can admire his skill and dedication to his craft. I prefer earlier period types than you have posted, but I admire the quality of them.

Again, beautiful knife/sheath

Re O-1....Vanadium is an industry standard refractory element for O-1...I have yet to read a proprietary analysis of O-1 that did not list it.

Have you seen suppliers that don't list it? Let me know, so I can stay away!

01 from https://www.flatground.com/support/support.jsp is one that does not list vanadium. Right below is A2 which they list as having vanadium, so I have to assume not mentioning vanadium in the 01 analysis is not just an oversight, so I don't buy from them.
