I'm flying to Salt Lake City the end of this week to attend an Instructor Re-Certification course - yee ha!

I have a few hours to spare and would love to visit a good Muzzleloader Shop if there is such a thing in the City. Suggestions from the Locals is greatly apprecated. Suggestions for other firearm related activities would be helpful. Heck I'd even attend a class if I could!

To bad your a weekend off, gun show was last weekend. The Salt Lake valley is a big area. If your close to downtown you can check out these folks:

The previous link of Fox valley. They have a nice little store, open limited hours on Saturday. Sadly not many stores carrying just muzzleloader supplies. There is also a Sportsmans wherehouse in the Salt Lake area. Also a Cabelas in Lehi, about 30 min to the south.

Maybe Gold Hunter can give you some other locations as well.

I was just racking my brain on this. As far as straight ML stores, Fox Valley is about it.
I buy my BP at this place, http://www.merchantcircle.com/search?q=gunnies&qn=orem,+ut

I get my small odds and ends at Sportsmans, mostly. Cabelas is always good for the taxidermy. And they have a small gun library, not as big as the Nebraska one, but good for a look. How long are you in town? What kind of instructor Re Cert? Shooting?

Ft Bridger, WY is about 2 hours away, nice day drive; http://wyoparks.state.wy.us/Site/FeeInfo.asp?siteID=14

Hope this helps.

If you want to visit historical fur trade place. You can also visit Ft. Beunaventura in Ogden. It's north of Salt lake, only about a 30 min. drive. The fort has a little trading post open on Saturdays. Take I-15 north exit, 24th street. Turn right, then turn right on "A" street. Follow the little brown signs down the hill to the fort.

Bridger is nice as well. They have a nice museum. There is also the pioneer museum in Salt Lake as well. Hope this helps.

Thanks Gold Hunter.

Thanks Fellas! Yea fly in Friday, attend class at BCI on Saturday, Fly home Sunday.

It is re-cert for Utah Concealed Firearms Permit Instructor.

I may check out Fox Valley if they are open after class on Saturday. Otherwise, it is off to Cabelas and then maybe to Porters Place in Lehi for a Bison steak. Three years ago my business took us out there for a four day instructor development course at the F.A.R.M. just outside of Lehi. Great times and good food at Porters!

Sounds good, Porters has some good food. I still need to get to the FARM. Hope you enjoy your stay.

The Pioneer Museum, IIRC, has a full stock Hawken on display. At least it did when I went there about 6 years ago.
