Was looking through sportsman's guide, Saw Traditions advertising a "Pellet flintlock." What? is that? How does it ignite?

Marketing gimmick for a gun that can use a premeasured pellet of powder (generally a substitute like pyrodex) rather than loose powder. Substitutes generally don't work well in a flintlock, but maybe when pressed into a tablet there's a coating or something that makes them easier to ignite.

Pellets have black powder on one end of them

And even with that pellet of black powder, they weren't all that reliable. All too often the pellets were loaded with the black powder kicker next to the ball. That don't work. Then the pellets were drilled for the black powder kicker to run through the pellet. Still not the most reliable of propellant sources. Best to avoid such devices.

I know it is sacrilege, but… Add 15-35gr by volume of 3F, anything other than Pyrodrek P (most likely named P because its residue smells like an unmucked estrus mare’s stall). Drop in a .50/50 or .44/30 pellet, end orientation is made moot by your 3F kicker.
Uneducated but well meaning friends and family always give me pellets at Christmas or birthday. So, pack Vicks under my nostrils to prevent “nose trials”, break out some Windex, and we go shooting. Note, I only have caplocks, but have used a 40gr kicker under a .50/50 T7 pellet in a friend’s rock lock (M1816) reconversion. Her boyfriend thought it would “simplify” loading…
