In short, Gene, I'm loving it! Took it out for the first time when I hooked up with the Montezuma Muzzleloaders - great bunch of guys that made sure I didn't hurt myself or that magnificent rifle while I was learning the ropes. They got me set up with a place to get powder and the internet got me the rest of the things I needed. I've had it out twice since then, once to make sure the sights were suited to me (that baby shoots right where the sights say she will!) and once to put the final hole in the winning target for this month's tag-team shoot (though the judges may decide differently)
Have shot enough to almost empty the box of balls you shipped with the rifle - time to order more or learn to cast my own. Tried .015 spit patches with the .395 balls, but think that proved a bit too tight. Went back to your load of pre-lubed .010 patches and she feels just right. A load of 25 grains of 3f is giving me 1" 3-shot groups at 25 yards - I might play around with 30 grains to see what that does, but I think any play in the size of the groups is my newness to flints and no fault of the gun or load. I still haven't cracked the code on maintaining flints (can't put a new edge on them), but I think I'll get there.
I'm still as happy as a clam with that Lancaster, and the more I see and learn here on the forum and from the guys around this corner of AZ, the happier I am.
