I was at the Dulles Expo Center in Chantilly VA yesterday, at The Nation's Gun Show, and scored a couple blister packs of #11 caps. I have caps that are several years old and still fire fine, and also a cap maker tool with ingredients that works well too. I am, however, going to give a Nused (new to me but used) caplock to my son-in-law to try and get him off the couch and away from video and TV and Netflicks. I figured one new tin for him at least. THEN if he loses the tin or drops the caps on the ground, voila, "I just happen to have another factory tin, still in the blister pack for you".

It's been a while since I bought some. 12₵ for each cap didn’t seem too bad.

I was at a gun show at the Louisville Fairgrounds and picked up a tin of no. 11’s and a tin of musket caps as well. Both have been rather scarce around here lately.

My local Fleet Farm had two full pegs of #11 caps and one full peg of musket caps last time I checked (about a week ago, if memory serves). I think the perceived continuing shortage is more likely a localized phenomenon due to local retailers not keeping up on their inventory.

I think you are right. I have looked at multiple stores over the last year. They all tell me the same thing, "Nobody uses them anymore". So they don't stock them anywhere near me. Walmart, Dunhams, F & F and so on. Even small town sport shops don't carry them. Its all about the straight wall around here. No need for caps.

Yeah, IF you have a decent sized Gun Show near to you, you might check it out. I was there with my son who was buying a few things, and I was just looking over a table of a bunch of reloading stuff. I got a box of .54's from the guy's table last summer, but he has a lot of odds and ends, so you have to spend a few minutes. I spotted several of the blister packs, but figured with my "luck" they'd be No. 10's. I was lucky this time and they were 11's. I normally do flintlock, but the rest of the week is supposed to be pretty damp where I am so figured I'd take my New Englander instead. Then I decided to also get a fresh tin for the Son-in-Law.
