FYI, in his excellent and ongoing (as of Jan/Feb 2017) treatise or tutorial on improving or reworking a stock Pedersoli brown bess, Mr. Person recommended a #9 Pfeil scraper and those scrapers as sold by Jerry Fisher as his favorite scraping tools (Brownells & Midway sell them, amongst other places).

My local wood carving tool supply place didn't have the #9 tool, bummer (but ordered) but I got 3 of the 4 scrapers Mr. Fisher sells. They are incredibly SHARP and in minutes took my scraping to the 'next level' once I got the hang of each tool/shape for the features I'd need it for. My other scrapers were well known/regarded scrapers that Woodcraft sells, but me thinks these newer ones are more useful (sized?) for longarms.

A big and hearty thanks for the recommendation Dave  !

I will have to check them out. When I first got started I assumed hand tools would be "cheap" as most of the ones at the local hardware store were inexpensive.

I have since discovered that QUALITY tools cost some good cash but are worth every penny. I am slowly upgrading my gear and will keep this in mind. Thanks for the heads up/ recommondation.
