Screw barrel pistols as a finishing shot?

This thread could just easily be in the hunting section.

Was thinking about a screw barrel to put in my shot pouch. For those who have used them are they powerful enough to finish a deer or hog with a close range shot to the side of the head?

I’d also use it for the occasional **** that wanders by or the squirrel that sits 10 feet away from your tree stand and won’t shut up (a squirrel makes a fine meal, as does a dog).

Opinions?

If you want to lecture about carrying in my shot pouch, just mind your business and move along to another thread and flex on someone else.
Almost certainly. My dad and grandpa both used a .22 rifle at almost contact distance to the head to dispatch steers to butcher. I'm thinking a .36-.50 caliber pistol will also work.

I carry the 6 shooter equivalent for that, loaded with 158gr .357 bullets loaded backward (for some reason they stabilize when loaded backward and don't keyhole from this smoothbore pistol) with a lubed .36 caliber wad below the bullet, and a piece of paper wadded over top just to keep the bullet from moving.

It certainly will, but I can’t move fast enough any more to safely do that. Even a doe can do damage with her feet. Much less a buck or hog.
I used to know a guy who owned a big ranch and just for fun, he killed a hog with the bayonet on a mosin nagant rifle and recorded it. He literally leaped off the front of the john boat and threw the rifle like a spear, and killed the hog without even shooting. He also did it with a spear. I gotta say I wouldn't be that guy, but I do have to respect his nads for actually trying to hunt like a caveman...
