my set triggers (2 trigger set up) likes to become mis adjusted after 10-15 shots on my .50. it gets to the point where it will not engage the half or full cock. then I have to remove the trigger guard, adjust the set screws back to an acceptable level, and carry on. would this be an ideal use for locktite on the trigger set screws?

The temporary Lock Tight will work just fine but if you don't have it on hand, just use a dab of fingernail polish on the threads of the adjustment screw. It holds well and breaks free the next time you want to adjust your trigger.

I think I would stick to the nail polish method.

Even the low strength "Blue" Loc-Tite is a lot stronger than it would need to be to keep those little screws from loosening.

Generally speaking, those small screws are made out of the weakest mild steel available and it doesn't take much to twist them off if something like Loc-Tite is holding them in place.

Yep! Works great for locking screws and finishing the heads of flies. Best of all is it's 99 cents at the dollar store! :wink: :haha:

I think he needs to answer.
It's been a struggle with this lock and trigger for some time now.
Here the hint;

and I don't think this is a typo,
do some review.
Honest,, I'm not tryin to dog anyone,, just get to the,, oh so easy resolve,,
"set screw" adjustment,,+/-,,don't make the lock do or don't engage,
,unless it's CVA lock with a bad/stripped tumbler/sear adjustment screw or stripped tumbler.
If that's the case, then no amount of adjustment and/or "glue" will hold the screw in place.

but at this time it doesn't matter because we can't get a straight story no matter how much "explaining" we do

I`m going to try the nail polish first because I have some, then the loc tite if the nail polish does not work. I`d try bees wax if I had some. I`m not getting shooting till Christmas holidays, so there is no real rush. thank you for all the ideas and cautions about the set screws.
BTW, its a Jim Chambers small siler lock and I don`t know the make if the set triggers. came with a pile of parts I purchased a few years ago from another forum member

this rifle was my first build and that bolt from tang to trigger was a characteristic I did not know about.the bolt from the tang on my rifle does not go to the trigger plate as they were not originally designed to meet up. I used a captive nut set inside the stock for the tang and presently have screws holding the triggers in. they are not loose as I rarely remove them. and when they eventually become loose, I`ll fix it.
