Has anyone experience with freezing Saskatoon serviceberries? I put out trail cams yesterday & We have a bumper Serviceberry crop where I bear hunt, I am thinking about running back up during the week and picking a few gallons for jelly. . . . but I'm working 12-14 hour days, so jelly making is going to have to wait. . . .hate to ruin gallons of berries if they can't freeze well.

If you have a good Saskatoon serviceberry (June Berry) jelly or Jam recipe. . . .I'd love to get that as well.

Years ago I picked a few gallons of Sandhills plums for jelly. I boiled the plums with just enough water to cover them and then froze the juice until I had time to make jelly.

I’ve also taken fresh blueberries and just rinsed them and frozen them for later use. The Saskatoons should work the same especially if you are going to make jelly.

BTW, wild/Sandhills plums make great jelly. They have a tartness that works well with the sugar.

I'm not the only Berry picker out there.

Looks like mom took her baby out to pick berries in the patch I have a trail cam on.

I think I'll let here have that patch, I sure don't want to get between her and her cub and have a misunderstanding. 😲

I had some service berry bushes here. The berries were ripe and done by June 10th Seems odd for yours to be so late.
