I'm using one of those plastic golf club "tubes". They're probably just over an inch in diameter. I'm not a golfer, but these things must still be available today. Anyway, cut to the length you need, maybe spray paint the outside, and trim to adjust to the diameter for your rifle. I just used my sight-glare protectors last week in a deer blind that reflects sunlight down the barrel from 2:00--3:00 everyday.
