'evening,

I saw one original years ago at a gun show, it did have a ramrod. It wasn't a DST, it was a single trigger/Infantry model. Wished that I had the cash for it then, I've never seen another.

But it's as Phil Coffins said. Plus, each company armorer had a wiping stick.

Didn’t need one, each rifle was issued with weighted cord with a brush that you dropped the weight threw the barrel then pulled the brush threw. A cleaning patch is done the same way. Easy to store the cord and brush.

Hi Phil, Any idea where I could find one of those original cleaning kits? I have an original Berdan, and would like to fill out the kit so to speak. I assume they are like finding hen's teeth. If you have close-up pictures and dimensions, I could attempt to recreate a kit.

I have no knowledge of where to find an original kit, the one in the picture is modern made using a 28 gauge brush. The brass weight is drilled through to a cut out window so the leather lace can be knotted to hold it. The brush end is drilled through for the lace and drilled and tapped to receive the knot and brush or patch loop.
