Anyone ever replace the lock on a Traditions Shenandoah rifle? The pan broke from the lock plate and they want $170 for a new lock! Still waiting for prices on just the lock plate and screws. The rifle has a good barrel .Its actually pretty accurate. Its only a back up to my Pedersoli Mortimer but I dont want to spend more than the barrel and wood are worth just for a backup .

Thanks

Go to Track of the Wolf and compare the size of your lock to those that they offer. Their catalog presents products in actual size. I am sure that one of the better lock makers' models could fit.

For less money, try L&R Lock company and get their replacement lock for Traditions rifles, some further inletting of the mortise is necessary but you will have a lock superior to factory.

P.S. It's a "drop in" replacement type, just do the woodwork for a nice result.

X2 on the L&R. I bought mine direct from L&R and got great service when I ruined the frizzen temper.

Replace the lock with the L& R rpl lock. You will get a more dependable lock besides. Down side, you need to do some minor in letting and fitting, and finish the outside of the lock. Polish, blue or brown etc. under no circumstances would I get another traditions lock. BJH

Thanks Everyone !

I didn't keep the ole lock plate because it didn't appear to be fixable. The break had that white powdery look to it so I just figured it was cast and couldn't be fixed.

So it looks like the L&R replacement is the way to go. The locks look really well made . I just cant believe they are less money than the Traditions lock !

Thanks Again and Ill post an update when I get it done
