Rebel and I made it to the range today to try my 54 Hawken using the 445 gr Lyman Shocker bullet.I was pleased with the groups (around 2 in)at 50 yds,but it was shooting low, and I didn't have enough bullets with me to adjust the elevation to the black area

That is what I was using today.
80 gr pyro P. Getting low on the Goex and needed to burn some of the substitute stuff

I have had my BEST groups with the larger/heavier connicals (450gr +/_ 10); Had to file off almost half of my front sight to raise the POI sufficiently BUT its all good and mighty accurate.

I can't seem to find an adequate photo or diagram of a shocker bullet. By chance could you post a link or picture of one? Thanks. :v

What is the twist ratio for your barrel? Were the bullets hitting head on, no keyholing? Emery

Very cool looking bullet. It comes in as a Lyman mould? I think I'd like to try one. In .50, .54, and .45 if they make one.

My T/C's are all 1/48, and I still get nice round holes out to 80 or so yards. I was concerned about the key holes with such a long bullet, but they work great. They are a solid base bullet. I haven't tried an over powder wad with them, but that might be the next excuse to head to the woods again

I haven't been able to find a mold as yet. Never seem to find them in stock. Lyman may have discontinued them.

I think they are in the midsouth catalogue I have a real mould but need to get working with that.

"Do the bands take the rifling as you seat the bullet? '

that is the concept TC used when they developed the Maxi ball, it is based on the driving bands use on artilliary projectiles.
