So, after the competition is held how long should it take to get a list or scores and totals?
Week or two tops

I've noticed unless you hang around till after everything is done you can see all the scores and claim rewards if deserved.

BUT, if you have to leave early:

Do you think scores should be snail mailed?
Emailed?

Do you thing awards should be given to a fellow competitor so he can deliver them to you or others?

Should awards be mailed to you?

I'm basing these questions on other shooting sports getting the news out to those who attended the competition. Example our skeet league & sporting clays host a shoot on the weekend. By Wed. or Thursday of the next week at teh latest I emiled tyo myself and others the list of scores and standings.

What do you think about the idea of;
Well you can pick your stuff up at the next shoot?**

Yea well what if I can't come because of work or another shoot.

** This line of thinking is the "We get you to come back to shoot..spend money deal". :nono:

So if you can be emailed some usless joke, why can't the scores be had in a reasonable time?

well Bill, you must have more time than me..or alot more devoted! I figure it's the competitors responsibility to make sure he receives his prize, mailing is a hassel (and $$$!)and if not,it'll be a prize at the next shoot! I'm not going to be responsible for anyones prizes for 3 or 4 months! and if they want they're scores, just ask..at the shoot! as far as 5 shots.......5 SHOTS! on paper or not, deer don't wait till ya hit 'em or get closer! I've gone as far as putting a 9x11 paper target on a 15x 20 paper so they (and I) can see where they missed! it's a SHOOT! it's about ACCURACY! MISSES COUNT! BUT....Thats just my opinion...and the shoot director's decision is FINAL!...and I is him! only good part of the job! good luck! RC

Never been to a shoot where the scores weren't posted within a resonable amount of time and prizes awarded before leaving the grounds.
Should a person decide to not stay for his/her prize - it goes to the next contender.
Of course though - I do only local bp shoots where we get at the most 50 shooters.
A shoot starts at a given time - registration stops at a given time and scores are figured in a given time.

RC I'm not talking about being responsible for prizes...
If the competitor request at his expense to have them mailed, I do not think it is asking to awful much. After the competitor has driven several hundred miles and can not stay for the awards--

Scores, yes I see scores posted on the boards updated.
But after the shoot if the scores have to be mailed out , why can't if you request to be included in on the email?
If I can get email on some great governmental scam 10 times...Scores should be a snap.

That's part of the shoot over in my part of the world ---
I also believe it is why some shoots do not draw more competitors from any distance.
Posting your competition finals is another way into free advertising by putting your name out again.

I see a shoot listed in a paper-- I go the web site, if the club has one to compare the dates with any new announcements.
Sometimes the web information is old. I then contact the address--email on the web site. Hopefully I'll get a reply in the first attempt.
I've called and phone numbers are no good.
Email about 25% of the time works..Yes I even consider it never made it to them.
Called numbers of fellas who had passed on.
Best ones are the folks going through a divorce..OH Boy...you get messages to pass on.

I'm just thinking the shoot is not completed if the final information is not closed out.
I've been watching for some time it's not just me that asks, "hey what were the finals last weekend".

I've played range officer or Ref. also

Thanks for the reply guys!! Appreciate it.

Regards Bill

We generally held blanket shoots and you had a big incentive to remain.

In the only time when I had to leave early, I called one of my shooting friends to see how it went. I would tink that a club officer would do that for you.

Most clubs and organizations that hold b.p. events are poor at geting scores or awards out to people. I attend 20-30 events yearly and they are all the same. Once you leave the event you'll never hear of it again and that's wrong, especially for the people that come a long distance to support your shoot. I've gotten to the point that if I attend a shoot, I come late, shoot til its over and then can see how I've done. One way I've fought back at their attitude is to show up and outshoot the locals, they hate that! :blah:
