Anybody out there have Madison Grant's book "The Kentucky Rifle Hunting Pouch" that would be willing to share some info? I would like to know the date given to PLATE #43 on pp. 66.

Thanks much,

Let's don't go slingin terms like that at each other. ::

I decided to semi-copy the pouch on p.25 (Plate 11) for an earlier style, something c. 1790 or so. Black moose leather and a leather-edged jute strap. Same jute and leather trim as used on my haversack.

That's a great lookin bag on page 25 Charlie. I made one simular in shape years ago out of elk tanned cowhide. I made it a double bag with a thin strap and a muskrat flap. It was my favorite bag for years and was with me on my moose hunt in Canada in 79.

I bought my Kentucky Rifle Hunting Pouch book in 1978 at Friendship from Madison himself and had him autograph it to me.
