I got a new, old flask. Rather bad condition. Has been found in an old barn.

The body made of horn is just desintegrating, and the brass band is broken that holds the two horn halves together.

It might have been used as a shot flask. There just was mixed shot in different sizes inside.

The unusual thing is the charger / flask top; I have never seen this type before.

It will probably function as a "push" charger, but it is actually blocked by corrosion and dirt.

There is also a compartment on the side of the spout with a metallic block inside.

This block can be fixed by a screw and can be moved up and down. The numbers 1 to 6 are stamped on this compartment.

So far what in can see.

Does any body know more about this system?

No idea concerning this flask?

Might it have been an experimental charging sytem or a type of shot charger that had not many customers? Or did not work as expected?
