Just got finished with this one today.
I used an Irish Shot charger and mated it to an old horn that was cracked and had to be cut off.
The horn section is 8 in. long and the overall length is 11 in.
I decided to hang it upside down to allow the the charger cup to be filled and drawn without turning the horn over.
The plug is walnut and the horn has been dyed with walnut wiping stain and saddle tan leather dye and then polished with Johnson's paste wax.

Very nice work, but you won't want to carry that horn full of shot. Its way too heavy, and holds way too much shot to drag on your shoulder. For most hunting, 1500 grains( 700 grains to the lb.) of shot will be more than enough. Refilling an Irish shot measure is a snap. I made the mistake of filling my Irish measure and attached shot bag on my strap full, and it weighed more than 3 lbs!

Nice,,but ya might wanna fashion some kind of thin thong for that shot dipper/cup,,I understand them Irish heads can disappear at inoppertune times

Thank you all for your comments.
Paul, you are right about the weight of shot but I have never carried more than a pound in all the years I have shot a smoothie and I never needed that much.
Necchi, thats probably a good idea. I've never had that problem but as they get older I could see that happening. I think I will use a small length of chain and solve that one before it rears its ugly head :hmm:

My first shot bag was a bottle shaped Irish head, wonder, made from some Elkskin I had left over from making some pants. It hold darn near 5 lbs. of shot! :shocked2: :cursing: I put a leather boot lace through the loops I sewed into the seams, to carry it, and I felt like it was cutting my shoulder in half when I carried that bag into the field one day. I intend to take it apart some day, and reduce it to a shorter, long Tube, that won't hold more than a pound of shot. I would rather carry a couple of small horns, or bags of shot into the dove fields, than to be dragging around one loaded with all that dead weight! Lessons learned..........

The first one I ever made was a shot snake and in the thinking every minute category I filled it completely full. Well... you know what happened when I picked it up.... :shocked2:  :rotf:

While it looks nice, it needs impartial testing. If you send it to me I will give it an impartial field test for a few years and then send you the results! :hmm: :hmm:
