Gday, with the ongoing drought in my part of the world we have a bit of a rat problem, so I have been going on mini hunts with a .22 loaded with ratshot.
This led me to the inevitable pondering upon the usefulness of loading my rifled flintlock with shot.
I was wondering has anyone loaded their rifled ML with shot? Why? and what were the results?

Cheers

Sorry if this is off topic, sort of.

I came upon a nice mouse/rat trap idea a while ago. Take a 1-L plastic bottle and drill a hole through the cap and the bottom ( centered ca. 1/2 " , 13 mm) Smear some peanut butter on the bottle then run a dowel (or appropriatly sized stick) through the bottle. Place this atop a 5-Gal bucket half filled with water. Then povide a means for the vermin to get to the bottle (stick or 2 X 4 " board). The rat/mouse climbs up, gets on the bottle which spins, falls into the water. I've caught dozens of mice without having to re-bait. In warm weather need to dump the bucket due to stench.
