I saw on here someone talked about using an acid on the barrels to make the "damascus" show better on them. Is this advisable, if so what kind of acid, what are the downsides of this treatment?
William Moore like Charles Moore where London makers the only one I own being a ' Best' if Dogeared old' Charles Moore' number 954 c 1808. Much like today. Firms where merged & names bought .and the raft of ' Wm Moores' servicable but farmed out or bought in to retail , but sold under the Wm Moore name yet have no other relation to the original London firms . Like Egg & Nock they where well known & it sounded good .& no diubt the 'London' helped . Many firms did it but the source was Brum or Liege in 1848 Wm Moore becomes Moore & Grey These numerous ' Wm Moores' tend to be later styles more mid to late Victorian that the founders. Both Regency & later gunmakers to Wm the Forth . Is that Helpful ? No probably not but enjoy them anyway. Rudyard
