I am thinking about making a shot pouch for my .451 balls and also my .672 balls. What have you used for spouts if anything. Or is it easier to just make a stopper and let the pouch itself have an opening up top?

Usually a the container for rifle or pistol ball is called a "Ball bag" or "Ball pouch" in my neck of the woods.
A "shot pouch" is what holds the shot for my shotgun.

That said, a stopper fitting a neck in a ball bag works well,

so long asw you allow enough room for the ball to pass, and ONLY one, you don't actually needanything for the collar. that said I have seen horn, antler, and wood used, so really its entirely up to your preference and ability

Here is my answer to your question,i used a couple of 45/70 cases,

hope this is of some use.

Thank you Necchi...i am still new to blackpowder shooting in general. Still trying to get all the terms right. Sounds like a plan then. If i can't decide of something to use for the neck, i'll just leave a hole there and plug it with a section on antler i have laying around the shop. Also, is there a way to make the bag somewhat stiff?

I have made spouts for ball/shot bags out of wood, brass , and antler. All work. For a pure ball bag I just make a plug to fit a raw hide sleave, or just leave the bag with a large opening and "drawstring ". :idunno: Raw hide makes an excellant stiff pouch (until it gets wet !) :idunno:
