I have an old 12 gauge shotgun barrel and was wondering if I could convert it to a muzzle loading shotgun for my T/C Renegade and if so what size breech plug would I need. I'm thinking it should not be too much of a problem. Thanks Roger

I don't remember what size plug a 12 ga. would need. I had the same thought but dropped the idea. Search past messages and there should be some answers.

first problem I see is tryin' to put a tapered round barrel on a Renegade stock which has a straight 1 inch octagon barrel channel. then tryin' to find a breechplug that'll work while also bein' adaptable to the tang. then if it's percussion you'd hafta gouge out a big scallop in the lockplate for the drum. probably be miles ahead to just have the Renegade bored to 28 or 20 gauge.

my opinion & worth what ya paid for it, bubba.

Take a look at William Brockway's book Recreating the Muzzleloading Double Barrel Shotgun. He shows how to make the plug and thread the breech (actually the chamber of the barrel).

Thanks to all for your info, just wanted a 12 gauge barrel for the Renegade because it is so hard to find one, so I figured I could make one.

to my way of thinkin' yer project would be easier accomplished on a New englander which starts out with a round barrel.

Thanks Bubba, maybe I can find a new Englander stock someplace. I'm beginning to think this is more work than what it's worth, good news is this hasn't cost me anything yet.
