My buddy has a 12 ga sxs that looks to be in very good condition shows some age though. My question is it has name of Mortimer. Is that a good brand?
 
Yes, they are well made guns, I have several originals and would suggest keeping the loads a little less than you would in a modern repro.
I don't load mine beyond 60-70 grs of 2F just to be safe and not damage the gun.
