I married off my third daughter this week end and they wanted an authentic Alaska theme so held the ceremony on the bluff South of town in the open air with nary a cover over our heads. Had a bear show up and saunter through behind us in the brush and some sand hill cranes serenading us in the back ground in lieu of canned music.............. best wedding I've ever been to.
The weather cooperated with no rain and the back drop of Cook Inlet and the Turnagain Arm and the Chugach Mnt's. hemming us in, it just don't get no better .
My daughter was all decked out in her white wedding gown and sporting, brown, XTRATUF mud boots.
The groomsmen were all wearing Carhart trousers, dress shirts and the brown XTRATUF boots the commercial fishermen and construction folks like to wear up here. Sort of the AK tennis shoe. 😄
The Walker would have fit in nicely for bear medicine in a cross draw rig in this wedding ! It was great fun and came off without any bear trouble although it's appearance was wonderfully appropriate for AK !
The "Isle" I walked my daughter down consisted of small Birch logs about eight inches high standing on end and was about 30 ft long.
