I got one with my 1860 Army when I bought it 20+ years ago. I still see them in catalogs, but I guess they go fast. I'd love to get one for my Dragoon, but the only repro I've ever seen was in a cased set commerative that someone put out 10 years ago, and understandably they guy didn't want to break the set. I just don't understand why Uberti won't make them when most of their Dragoons are set up for them. I wonder if the ATF is calling them SBRs even though they're muzzle loaders?

I have seen a few original ones if you want to spend $15K and up!

They are still advertised for sale on several web sites, but always Out of Stock or Unavailable.

never heard an answer to that either. maybe get one here.

Did the original dragoons come with the screws and notches on them. I've had three 3rd model and none had that. They were ASM .This last one I just got (Uberti) has them.

I have an ASM Dragoon from the 80's that is a 4 screw CFS with the added leaf sights on the top flat of the barrel. I was also lucky enough to run across an ASM Dragoon stock on eBay last year.

Don't know about the dragoon. I never even heard of one till lately. Must be pretty rare.
I seen one on gunbroker but I don't think I want to pay a million dollars for one.

Several years ago I bought an ASM 1860 with shoulder stock from a forum member who is no longer with us. The shoulder stock would not fit either a Pietta or Uberti. It made a nice set with a second ASM 1860 - I later sold all three.

Just under a year ago I bought an 1861 Uberti with Uberti shoulder stock on GB for $440. Deals can be found but I had been watching for four years.

I was thinking spitballing about the possibility of setting up the tooling to build something like the Uberti shoulder stock and the steps involved and amount of "touch" time. When you put a reasonable value on your time the price comes out north of $500 unless someone gave you a set of production tooling.

Nice , I picked up one of these a few years back at a gun show. Couldn’t pass it up for the price. Matching serial numbers on revolver and stock.

So how much work would it require to make one fit a different make or model of gun?

Just having a stock is the greatest hurdle it seems, making it fit your gun seems somewhat less of a challenge.

Id love to have one for any of the guns they were made for, Dragoon, 1860 or Navy. Fitting one to a different make doesnt seem insurmountable.
