I've been dreaming about getting the SMR in .45, my favorite. This has been amazing eye candy!

Likewise, I just can’t decide which stock wood to go with. I’ve done maple and it looks great, but walnut is easy to work with and I’ve always wanted to do one in cherry. I’m leaning towards cherry at the moment but I’ve never worked with it before.

Carved molding lines, and accents on the cheekpiece, finished with multiple coats of tannic acid, 2 coats of ye olde aquafortis from TOW (heated between each coat), rubbed back with 0000 steel wool, then finished with 4 coats of standard Tried & True. All metal finished with Kibler's patina solution and rubbed back with 0000 steel wool.

looks great, is that the standard wood? I like the tanic acid darkness better with the wood with less figure. On the nice wood the darkness I think just covers up most of the beauty. What caliber did you go with.
