Have been working to get my Son's fllintlock sighted in for two years, switched out sights about a year and a half ago have had some technical diffficulties but finally got there.

The red lettering points out the elevation adjustments and eventual point of aim. The Bull was the second shot once I got the elevation on.Subsequent shots started to drop, but I was kinda rushing those because light was fading. The top shot was actually on the bottom because I had turned the target upside down to try an off hand shot.

Wow, that must feel good to finally get her sighted-in after two years. Looks nice and consistant.

That's good shooting. I'm old enough to be happy to get 3 out of 5 shots in the black at 100 yards even with a well sighted-in flintlock.

This was 25 yards off a bench, strictly for sighting purposes. 55grns. fffg, .440 ball, .18 pillow ticking and spit lube. The last time I had it out, shooting offhand at 25 yards I was getting the same grouping -just low and to the left. At 50 yards I can get most in the black with a few outside. I have not had a lot of sucess at 100 yards yet. But then again it is my Son's rifle and I won't be shooting it a whole lot.

Hi Rob,

good shooting! What kind of flinter is it?

I'll do some shooting with my 2 cappers (.45 Deeerhunter, .50 Hawken Woodsman) tomorrow.

The rifle is loosley based on a late lancaster-It has a 36" Euroarms "Kentuckian" barrel. Was assembled from assorted parts as a practice build. I generally start sighting at 25 yards and then head out from there. I have found not a lot of difference typically between 25-50 yards and then just have to learn the front blade elevation for 100 yards. Our range has those 3 stations. My other 2 caplock rifles have the adjustable rear sights but for me it works better to just treat them like stationary rear sights instead of changing them up and down for various distances. Hell-my eyes are to the point where gremlins start appearing after about 30 minutes of shooting at any distance.Of course the 3 focus progressive lenses don't exactly help that. I think I need to get a pair of single vision lenses just for shooting and driving.

I hear that! :haha:

Anymore I have to tip my head back so far when shooting a pistol it looks like I'm peering out my nostrils.

The older I get the better I was.
