After doing more research indeed the poured spout definitely seems to be a very common method for repairing. Lining up materials to give it a go this weekend. Certainly will report back in with my progress.
 
While it's indeed no hanger, he is describing the fact it is a little "proud" and pronounced. I agree, it will be getting fixed once the cap is poured. I personally rushed that area of the horn faster than I should have. The main problem, and I contribute that to heating the mild steel, which in turn balloned the material out somewhat which caused me some trouble in setting the staple in the pre-drilled holes. At that point driving the staple harder would have caused more problems, to be continued...
