You can get a pretty good Fusil de Chase Cows foot fusil from the TOW 44" Tulle this barrel length would be proper for many of the contracts of the early 18th century, the lock needs some work and will still be short but all others will be the same unlesscustom built or modified the .66 bore should bring in a gun at about 7 lb the .62/.58 barrels are the same profile and heavier I have a .58 that is just under 8lb and not realy uncomfortable but 7 is better, walnut stocks are available which is the way to go, iron furnishings and no browning and forget the "plans" and use Bouchards book as a guideling, this is by no means a "replica" but will be the closest you can get in parts from a pre made up set or a finished gun from any of the "semi-custom- folks, one of the Davis guns is 8 3/4 lbs from what I heard pretty heavy I would think, Sitting Fox and others have some really way out writeups about some of the gun types and it concernse me what I am going to get into dealing with someone that does not know enough about the gun to do a correct description/writeup on it particularly if I cannot see all the parts being used, even a reputable single shop man had a writeup about how Walnut and Maples were the common woods used to build French guns in the 18th century, a lot of folks want your money and have no problem peeing down your leg and telling you it's raining,If you want a gun built contact Alex E. here on the forum he has the French guns well dialed in.Good luck
