I have heard tell of folks using skirmish powder from powder inc. in their cap&ball as well as cartridge revolvers for CAS and such. Can anyone confirm weather you can or can not? heard some use the 1F and some the 2F. :hmm: What say you?
It is appealing at the price.

Check here. They list it. It is a type of KIK that has more fines in it than standard grades. http://www.powderinc.com/catalog/order.htm

Rebel, that is the stuff! :winking: I guess this is relatively new on the market? The word is that it can be used in .38 and up (in Cartridge's) and in .36 and up (in cap&ball) as well. Jerry at Powder inc. recomended I ask around about it as it is primarily for fireworks and blank loads. I have read a couple of post on another board from long time CAS shooters that they use it in their revolvers and scatterguns. I was hoping someone here had some knowledge of it.

If you can get a sample to try do it but I believe in using what works best in your gun no matter what your shooting. Powder ends up not being the big expense of shooting.

I had thought about getting 4 lbs. of Goex and 1 lb. of Scirmish. I just wanted to see if any of you BP guru's had any experience with it first!

I use it for blank powder for ACW reenacting and it works fine. It does save alot of money for us when between the wife and I, we shoot about 350+ blanks over a weekend.

I do not use it when shooting live loads. It does seem leave a bit more fouling and the granulation is no where close to what it says on the can. IMO it appears to be left over stuff after all the good granulations have been taken out.

That being said, I dont see any problem using it for practice/fun loads. I wouldnt use it for hunting though.
