Skychief Wad?

I use a variant of Mr. Skychiefs load. Instead of olive oil alone I do a simple mixture of 50% olive oil and 50% bees wax. Less sloppy, easier to carry and really tightened up the pattern in all my Pedersoli's.

I soak until they will soak no more. Then I coat them with a paper thin coating of melted beeswax to keep them from oozing oil everywhere. The wax pretty much crumbles away when I force the wad into the muzzle (have a rag handy, there will be oily mess) but what is left won't hurt anything.
I've also used melted coconut oil so that once it drops back below 76°f it will not run like olive oil. The coconut oil has to be kept warm enough to stay liquid while the wads soak and it takes a little longer. I use 76° refined coconut oil, no coconut smell and doesn't go rancid as soon as olive or other oils so one doesn't get that odor either.
