LOL!! I have not tried cutting a oak tree that size with a machete! I have cut other trees that are that diameter with the machete. I have cut many a Oak branch that was up to 6 inches in diameter. Interestingly enough the tables for the most part are turned here in the US. It’s hard to find a quality machete without special ordering online from a dealer that carry’s foreign brands. A well-designed ax that is sharp will make a lot of chips fly! But you pretty much have to use a custom axe to achieve that.
The best machete is the Blackie Collins designed one and made by Ontario with a blade about 12 inches long. Was made in two lengths. The longer one is the same length as most other machetes. The shorter one ( I have 2 of them ) has a blade length of about 12” as stated above. They were made for a US Army contract, and have a very functional heavy duty green plastic, slightly flexible scabbard available to go with them. I have chopped down several five to six inch diameter trees with mine fairly quickly. Does not do the job quite as well as MOST belt axes, though.
