I have a 32cal. T.C. Cherokee. With 20 GR of 3F BP, it keeps all shots in a 1 inch group at 25 yds.
Taken a few tree rats with it.
Thinking about selling it. Don't get to go small game hunting anymore.

Yup, that's what it be! Course you can't cut gain twist with this type but it will be great for any even twist I decide upon.
Hand pull machines are by necessity scrape cutters but perfectly suited for a one man hobbyist who has no intention of going commercial as these are very slow. It will at least get me started until I can get room enough to build the other machine I started on five years ago.
It will deep hole bore as well as rifle. I think I can modify the design to cut gains as well.
Big dreams, have to see how successful I am at moving from hot air to reality. Mike D. :rotf:

I read that with great interest Richard. Wonder what the pitch would be in a 25 caliber?
I need to buy some more barrel blanks with the various lengths and pitches for riling guides to use in the scrape cutter. Actually shot out barrels would work fine too as all their doing is chasing the pitch into the new barrel via lap/chasing slug. Don't need perfect rifling for that!
Talk about traditional, this is just about the simplest type of rifler ever made, seen pictures of them used in the Appalachians by the hill folk for their barrels. Much easier than carving a new wood, pitch drum for their machines, last longer too and doesn't warp. Mike D.

This fellow will custom make you exactly what you want in flint or percussion for about $500 per gun.

I have a 32 flint rifle. It defies all of the common stories you hear about 32s. It doesn't foul out, it has had the same hickory ramrod for thousands of loadings and it is accurate as all get out. It will shoot well under an inch at 50 yards. They are a hoot to shoot and cheap on powder and lead. Get one you won't regret it.

as an avid shooter of small calibers thats still learning ....i think the same rules apply to the small as well as large....every rifle is different. youll never know how yours plays out until you shoot it.....my 32 DGW southern rifle is fine as long as you swab between shots...i can go all day without issue..but if you dont swab shes a beast! so in the long run ...i suggest you get what ya want ...just be prepared in case she requires more attention than you expected...kinda like a women
