I got a wild hair awhile back and was thinking about all the cci 22 shell plastic boxes I've dumped up to now. Hundreds of them. Clean them up and put small BP necessities in them for the possibles or hunting bag. They are light, about the right size for most things. You can see what is in them, and they are quieter than the much daunted altoids tins. They don't clink and they open easily.'

Anybody else use these things for the bag or range?

No - I only have one tin (Whitman's) in my shooting bag, and it holds patches.

I still use the plastic boxes I got when I bought swaged balls, but not in my shooting bag.

I like the chewing tobacco plastic containers. They are a soft plastic so less noise and they are pretty much air tight. The size is good for me for small parts like extra nipples and such. I don't chew so I snag them when I see one tossed out. Wintergreen smells good too.

I use em alot. The .22 containers (if I am thinking of the right one mentioned in OP) seems like they could break pretty easily?

Chew can can carry ALOT. I will stuff with cleaning patches, several balls, caps (or cap tin, 1-2 with shooting patches, caps, extra nipple, moist patches whatever), and then a few more cleaning patches.

Skoll cans here. You can get enough lube in one for a year's hunting, and they're pretty handy for loose parts and patches. I have some metal (actually copper) tins about the same size I use in my bags, but there are so many of the plastic Skoll cans in my range box, I have to label them to keep track.

All my containers are metal. I pick them up at thrift, second hand, and antique shops. and garage sales. I don't store anything that can rattle in a tin....I also keep the tins to a minimum to reduce unnecessary bulk. Some plastic can break easily.

I like the idea of the chewing or snuff containers. Only thing is if you have more than one in the bag you need to label it. The cci22 boxes are transparent which is what I like about them. I'll have to see how they hold up here in the great S W Sonoran desert, then go to the mountains for a temperatue change.

I use a couple metal containers in my bag.

One’s for my fire kit the other is for lubed wads.

Everything else is in small hand made leather bags, they’re quite and can be tucked away most anywhere.

Great idea on the .22 box use , I usually just put more bullets back in mine out of the brick.
