With the last ML deer season over in mid December. I haven’t but a few leftovers from last year in the freezer having not had the good fortune to refill. Had one of the best seasons ever but did not fill a tag. Over the past weekend I spent Sunday afternoon plinking at empty cans with a Ruger Old Army, with great pleasure no less, however upon packing gear and heading back to town just before sunset we saw no fewer than 18 deer within a quarter mile of my deer stand. One buck had a single antler remaining that had 4 tines with a total height almost twice the length of his ears. Where were all of these deer when I was trying to kill one? Are they getting too smart to die in front of a rifle?

Same deal with the turkey here. The lack of human activity(especially smell)the animals become frisky! :winking:

Around here, this is the time of year when the deer start to regroup into herds. The threat of humans is diminished and they eat out in the open fields more. Most of the bucks have shed already. Some of the guys at work have been finding them.
