is this possible, now i have read a bit on this rifle but not a lot, but i had thought that if one were so inclined to make a smith, could it have a flint ignition. now i relise the the case is fired from the rear with the cap, but if it were ignited on the side like a traditional flint and using the case a gas check for the breach, could this work. ur thoughts please....

to ditto another answer why.

if you want a breachloading flint do a fergusion or a hall.

well i have thought and eventualy want to get a furguson, but in that case getting the breach itself i havent found any other than buying from theriffleshoppe the whole rifle tho. asfar as the smith, the action would be easier to build than the furguson, due to not having to make that unique screw.

Over the years there have been a number of flintlock rifles made which used cartridges of one sort or another.
History says that most (if not all) of them didn't pan out.
Get it?? pan out?????? Flintlock pan....

PS: You might take a look at the Flintlock Hall Rifle.
zonie :)

altho i maybe straying from the topic in question,
i wonder if is neccisary to have a long thred like a ferguson breach, as oposed to a bolt threded into a piece barrel, on center perpendicular to the axis of the bore. there might be a few more turns to the breach but hey, might be less gas escape. mmmmmmm. i might be on to something?
