I did some horse trading a while back and let my .20 ga Smoothie go. I have another .20 Smoothbore all around gun in the works and realized I also let the bag I made for the first gun go with it. So needing a bag, I whipped one up. Made a double bag out of Elk leather. I went for the well used broken in look and was forced into a repair on one of the straps that fits right in with what I was going for. Stitched in a double pocket on the back panel. I mounted a knife and I'm going to switch around horns, moving my running deer horn over to my rifle and putting my map horn on this bag. That horn will be used between the .20ga and the .12ga for now on.

That's an excellent looking bag, Swampy. You obviously have some experience making them, and it shows.

Yup made a few. :haha: Had to slow down because of my hands. Thanks guys, guess I needed to prove to myself I can still do it and I found myself needing one.

Do you have a pattern you work from Swampy, or did you cobble the bag together without one?

That one looks just about perfect - I bought one from TOTW but it is too small for a serious trail shoot and is meant only for hunting...

I actually decided how I wanted to go and made a new pattern for this one but yeah I have quite a few patterns saved from making bags over the last few years. :haha: With names written on them like "RC's bag", "Undertakers bag", Roy's bag etc...

Always make and work off a pattern.

Man, it's great to see you back in the saddle again! Wahoo!

And even better to see you haven't lost your touch.

Great looking bag Swampy. Alot of sewing in those and it can get rough on your hands.
I gotta get me some leather

I just eye balled a yard stick to see what size looked good to me and kinda came up with an oddball measurement. :haha: The patten I drew and cut out is 7 1/4" wide and 7 3/4" tall except for the back panel of which I decided to combine the it with the flap. So the bag ended up roughly 7"x7 1/2" which is plenty.
