Smoothbore125yd.jpg

Took my Fucil de Chasse .62 out this morning and
shot this 3 shot group offhand from 125 yds. Had planned to shoot 5 shots but thought I better quit while I was ahead. Load was:
.600 hand cast pure lead ball
.o13 blue pillow ticking from walmart, spit patched (no wads)
125 grs. 2F Goex(This allows me to use the same sight picture as 70 grs. does at 25 or 50 yds.)
pan primed with 4F
I built this gun about 10 yrs ago, until then I would never have believed a smoothie could shoot this well and with nothing special. No weighing of balls , no sifting of powders, no special lubes and no cleaning between shots. Smoothies are great, if you don't have one, you need to get one.

That's excellent shooting. I'd be happy to do that from bags with a smoothie.

Wow, that's good shootin'.

How big is the target, and what are you shooting, other than a 20 guage? Any rear sight?
Thanks,
J.D.

This helps with my trying to see just how good a smooth shoots, but what size is the target? About 8 to 10"? Great anyway. If I dont end up in hospital this week I'll give mine a try with the scope just to see how good they can be out to 100. Again thanks. Fred :hatsoff:

WOW! I got one but never thought you could put that much powder in...well, I never tried.. gees!does it still shoot good at 50 yds,, ya know fer a huntin load? course it'd take me 9 shots to match yer target,,,shoot 3, move up 50yds. shoot 3,, move up 30 yds..shoot 3...yeah thats it! great shootin...guess theres hope yet! RC

I got up ready to go out and really spend the day with the 20/62 shooting at 100 yds, RAIN ya want rain ? Look at any weather map today we got 2 1/2" in last 4 hours with 3" more comeing....maybe in a day or two or by boat :) Fred :hatsoff:

Great shooting Deadeye.
And that with a smoothbore.I was never that good with a smoothbore at that distance. To my defence i must say that i didn't shoot smoothbores very often.
:hatsoff:

Rebel, bullseye is 3 7/8", group is 5".
FW, no rear sight.
RC, at 50 yds. accuracy will be about the same with any load, 50 grs. or 100 grs.- 100 gr. load may be 1/2" higher. At 100 yds. 100 gr. load will be several inches higher.
