My father-in-law aquired that I think is a smoothe bore British caplock. At least I think it's British, it has British proof marks but nothing else on the lock. I would have thought it wouls say "Enfield" somewhere on the lock. It also has British proof marks on the barrel. As to the barrel, about a foot of the breech is octaginal, then goes to round. It is .58 cal I believe. It has a flip up sight out to 400 yards. The front sight looks like a bayonet lug that had a blade filed on the top. Also, as I stated earlier, it is a smoothe bore. I did some a research and i think it is an 1842 Enfield. I haven't figured out photo postinf yet so I don't have pics. Any info from the limited disription would be greatly appreciated.
