A couple of years ago, I had a 20 guage smoothbored barrel made up for my Kahnke single shot pistol. It is 16" long and it makes what amounts to a legal handi-gun.

I should state that the original H&R Handi Guns are legal if you go through the paperwork but that can be a real hassle.

Anyways. Has anyone here hunted small game such as squirrels, ruffed grouse, bunnies\, etc with a smoothbore pistol?

I popped a pesky rattler that came into camp, with a .410 pistol once if that counts. Heck I have a hard enough time hunting game with a full sized smoothbore. Sounds like it'd be fun though. :)

I use smooth bore handguns to hunt small game, bunnies
and birds. I shoot flint and percussion smooth bores. Use
more round balls then I do shot but use both.

Had a very nice, very plain .35 caliber smooth bore pistol
12” to 14” overall length that had a small taper to the bore
inside starting from the breach plug tapering down to within
a inch of the inside of the muzzle. Used wading over and
under ball or shot, worked great.

I should get out and shoot more.
