It can take a lot more heat than most epoxy's but if the area is heated up to temperatures around 400°F it will lose its strength and release whatever it's holding.

These temperatures are similar to those used for soft soldering and won't harm or change steel.
Sounds like a better plan than mine! :grin:

Was just banging off the back porch with the fifty smoothie and cogitatin' on small ball. I'm thinking .465 ball is next up for tests.
 
I needed to put a new front sight on my fowler. My soldering skills are seriously lacking, so I used JB weld. held tight as can be and when it was time to take it off and solder it properly it came right off with a torch
