Very nice Keb. Are the ribs of your wall on 1' centers, making your handsome musket nearly 7' long?
No they aren't. The barrel is 48" long so they are closer to 9" apart.
I'm building another cherry stocked fowling gun now with a 52" barrel of the same caliber. This one will finish 4" longer than the previous one. I've the butt stock finish shaped and it shoulders nicely. I can't wait to shoot it. The butt has an earlier shape. It has a ways to go before it's done.

Thank you sir, she's a beauty for sure! Absolutely awesome shooting a piece of history! Best part was the price... purchased this from a fellow coworker after he purchased numerous firearms from an estate sale. He had absolutely no interest in the rifle and I snagged her for.... $180.00! Few more pics

16 gauge New England fowler by Jim Brooks.
Six pounds four ounces.

AH! Yipe. I just now noticed that I attributed this gun to the wrong fellow.
It was made for me by MIKE Brooks after a picture in Grinslade's "Flintlock Fowlers"...NE9.

I got the color on this latest gun today. It's a 52" tapered round 11 gauge barrel, early banana English lock marked "Green" and what is known today as 2nd model Brown Bess trigger guard & butt plate & a 1st model side plate. Pipes are sheet brass from Track of the Wolf.

My first ever flintlock as well as my first ever flintlock build. This one's a 16 bore shorty. 5.25 lbs. She may not be the prettiest girl in this pageant but she's my 1st.

Plenty pretty!

And, despite what many would say, you managed to put the lock on the correct side-something many have yet to master!

bpd303, I have a J.T. Phillips just like yours, but in 20 gauge, and it has been a good one for me. Have you put your new one through its paces enough to know if your are going to like it?

Spence
