Solder paste product.

I have a product that comes in a small white plastic jar. You mix it up, slather it on the metal parts, clamp them together and simply heat with a torch. I can't seem to find this product again, can anyone tell me what it is?

Looks like 95/5 Black Swan solder and flux.

There are a lot of soldering pastes out there on the market. Just Google "soldering paste" to see some of them.

(For those not familiar with these soldering pastes, they are not just soldering flux. They contain ground up powders made from lead or tin along with other metals and they form a soldered joint.
Be careful when you buy soldering paste. The containers look a lot like the ones "Soldering Flux" comes in. Soldering Flux just prepares the surface of the metal for soldering. It does not contain any solder in it.)

Be careful - that Harris Stay-clean is just a flux and contains no metallic particles. You have to add Stay-Brite silver bearing solder to the joint to complete the process of joining the two items being attached.

Most hardware stores has the paste in a tube. Lot cheaper.

well, like I said the old product I had was in one jar and you just mixed it up. Easy peasy. I just can't seem to find the product anywhere anymore.

I used a silver solder / flux paste. Cant remember the name. Flowed around 500 degrees, held sight ramps, scope bases, vent ribs etc worked well. I ordered it many years ago from Brownells. Check to see if they still list it.

I believe you have a jar of Swif 95 solder paste. I used it for years. It was great stuff. Unfortunately they do not make it anymore. Now I use Solder-It paste in a tube. I find it at Home Depot.

Looks like that Solder-it paste will work, but it doesn't look like a very good bargain. That old jar didn't cost very much and darn, it lasted forever.

Times have certainly changed - have you done any grocery shopping lately? Everything that the consumer is purchasing now has gone up in price. We are being gouged by vendors since this COVID-19 issue.

Brownell's also offers silver solder/braze in a paste. The 1200° 55% silver stuff.
