Took a friend to the range today who had never shot a flintlock. Two hours later he was loading, priming and shooting like he knew something about it.

During my turns at the bench, I decided to see if the Sells .54 would shoot as well with 90 grains of 2f as 3f (just in case 2f was all that was available). Target was at 50 yards. At Paul Vanlandingham's suggestion, I didn't crank down on the ramrod as hard when seating the ball. Ignition was so FAST!! Not Klatch-boom but Kboom! Couldn't detect any difference between this ignition and my percussion GPR. The 2f grouped well on the 2" diamond target Stumpkiller told us about, but POI was about 1.5" lower than 90 grains 3f, similar to my target load of 70 grains 3f.

Went back to the 90 grain 3f hunting load; excellent group smack in the middle of the diamond. Again, seating the ball but not cranking down hard, ignition was identical to that of the 2f load - FAST.

All shooting was using 4f to prime; never knapped or adjusted the black english flint, never picked the touchhole (lost my pick some time ago). Wiped the flint and pan every shot and only had one flash-in-the pan.
