Of course you realize you make us Quite envious!

There's no need for that, because there's nothing you can do with surface flints, they're just rocks. I buy my gun flints from a shop same as everyone else.

What if you knapp off the outer surface, is the middle section of a surface flint usable?

Knapping is clever stuff, I could smash it to pieces but the chances of getting anything gun flint shaped are kinda remote.

If you aren't convinced, send me a mail address. I'd sure be interested to see if you could salvage a gun flint from this rock, and if so, tell me how you did it :master:

Indeed, Squire! That's an impressive chunk o' rock. Wow! :shocking: By the way, I've used the same strategy in battle myself. Whenever I'm confronted by an angry mob carrying ML shotguns, I simply launch a few clays into the air as a diversion, then I sneak off into the woods (well, in my case I sneak off into the desert, but you get the point). In any case, Squire Robin, thanks for the picture and the kind (at least I hope they were kind :shocking:) thoughts.

I'll mail it tomorrow

Thanks Robin... :redthumb:

It's mine now guys... :blah:

It will be interesting to see how this affects your life Mooskeetman.

You will now be one of the "got rocks"!

PS: don't spend all of your new found wealth in one place. :: ::

How do you clamp this rock into the hammer of your flintlock? Sorry, I am new to flinters.
Oh I see... If you built your own flintlock but only bigger, say like a 200 inch barrel 12 inches across the flat...
Did they ever have flintlock cannons?

Chickenfax: The rock will be knapped (controled breaking) into usable smaller 1 inch pieces and then fit into the jaws of my musket...

Ha, French flint in an English musket...

It's almost as funny as English flint in a French musket...

Hi Musketeer

I found one for you. It's musket sized, already has the bevel cut and the shape maked out.

All you got to do is trim off the top and sides ::

best regards

Squire Robin

Squire, Unlike Musketman, I'm far too lazy to dig that flint out of the surrounding rock (I also SUCK at knapping)!
On the other hand, if you'd like to send me some fine ready-to-use black English flints........

You can buy Tom Fuller "English" flints at October Country or Trackofhewolf.
; The last 100 bunch of 1 1/8" and 1" flints I bought at October Country, didn't have a single peaked flint- I think Musketman got them all. - HAHAHAHA!

Shhhhhhhhhh!!!! C'mon, Daryl! I'm tryin' to get some free flints from Robin! :shocking: By the way don't say anything to Robin about this! Thanks! Oh S---! What do ya mean this isn't a private post! :shocking: Oh C---! Hey, Robin! Ignore this post! Watch the flying clays, while I sneak off into the woods!

Hump backed flints - those "mizzy wheels" are the best thing since sliced bread...they'll grind off a hump back down to a flat top in 30 seconds
:)

Maybe you could go to Penzance and get some pyrite too...

I know, bad pun...

"The pyrites of Penzance..."

Oh, Lord! Is this the level to which we've sunk?  Musketman, I think you should make the guy who writes your jokes/puns walk the plank! It's time to commit his body to the Deep!

It got to my house today... :)

Thank you Robin, it looks really nice...

Hit it with a flint striker, the sparks just jumped off of it and danced in the fibers of my carpet, again, Mrs. Musketman gave me that look...

My wife said:
"Do you have to knapp it?"

I said yes...

She said: "Send it back, I remember the last time!!!"

She was refering to the fact that I had laid three fingers to the bone and had 12 stiches in each from a knapping mishap...

Go figure?

Again, thank you for your kindness...
